Do children use logic to spell logician? Implicit versus explicit teaching of morphological spelling rules
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Intervention studies have reported the advantage of teaching children about morphemes for spelling, but direct comparisons between explicit and implicit been examined systematically in relation to only a few morphological rules. Aims This study compared versus functional rule conservation stem derived words English (e.g., logic is conserved derivative logician spite changes pronunciation). Sample Participants (n = 90; 7- 9-year-olds) were drawn from three schools with diverse intake. Methods The design included pre-test two post-intervention tests. randomly assigned one groups: an group, taught stems their words; exposed same derivatives without teaching; unseen control group. At pre- post-test, children’s spelling was assessed. interventions involved practice games which spelled after seeing base forms; group discussed connection spellings, whereas did not. Results Analyses variance revealed that led more significant improvements than or no teaching, this effect held at both post-tests. Conclusions It concluded forms combined appropriate shows sustained on spelling. evidence supports classroom practice.

Implicit Versus Explicit Knowledge in Dialogical Logic
A dialogical version of (modal) epistemic logic is outlined, with an intuitionistic variant. Another version of dialogical epistemic logic is then provided by means of the S4 mapping of intuitionistic logic. Both systems cast new light on the relationship between intuitionism, modal logic and dialogical games.
متن کاملCoalgebraic Logic Programming: implicit versus explicit resource handling
We compare approaches to implicit and explicit resource handling in coinductive and concurrent logic programming. We show various effects that implicit and explicit handling of resources have on implementation and semantics. In particular, we show that recently introduced coalgebraic logic programming [17] is a paradigm in which, in contrast to many other alternative systems, the aspects of log...
متن کاملImplicit versus explicit comparatives
It is natural to assume that the explicit comparative – John is taller than Mary – can be true in cases the implicit comparative – John is tall compared to Mary – is not. This is sometimes seen as a threat to comparison-class based analyses of the comparative. In this paper it is claimed that the distinction between explicit and implicit comparatives corresponds to the difference between (stric...
